Meet Jodie & Jenny
Hi! I’m Jodie (on your right). I have been feeding my dogs a raw diet for the past 6 years. Why, you ask? I do it for my dogs. Six years ago I remember hearing about all of the dog food recalls, and it made me anxious about feeding my dogs kibble. I researched which brand had the fewest recalls, most protein, and fewest strange ingredients (did you know that ash is an accepted ingredient in kibble?). The final straw was when I watched a documentary called Pet Fooled that was all about the pet food industry and what really goes into our pets’ food. After that, I knew that I had to change what I was feeding my dogs.
When it comes to human nutrition, we are told to eat fresh, unprocessed foods in order to stay healthy. However, when it comes to our furry companions, we are told to feed them this ultra-processed product. I truly believe this highly processed, cooked-at-high-temperatures “food” is the root of the majority of the health issues that our pets encounter (diabetes, kidney disease, cancer, allergies). A dog shares 99.9% of its DNA with wolves, and they should eat a species appropriate diet. I don’t know at what point in time it became recommended to feed dry kibble, but I believe it’s time to change.
That change is coming in the form of raw, fresh, real food for our pets. In order to make the healthiest food possible for my pups, I researched and read books about raw diets. After learning what worked and what didn’t, we perfected our recipe. Our food is a combination of chicken leg quarters, chicken hearts, gizzards, and livers along with a large variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. This combination provides our dogs with all the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that they need. After seeing the benefits in my dogs, I felt like I had to share my food with the world!

Hi, I’m Jenny (on your left). I have owned dogs all of my adult life and had always fed them kibble until about a year and a half ago. We had a dog who was in late stage kidney failure, and we wanted to keep her as comfortable as possible for as long as possible. However, she wasn’t eating her kibble. I started by offering her kidney friendly commercially made food, which she refused to eat. My veterinarian gave me some kidney friendly home cooked meals that I would cook and offer her. She would eat a little bit of those, but not very enthusiastically. It got to a point where the vet just said to feed her whatever she’ll eat, and we will keep an eye on her. I borrowed some raw food from Jodie, and she ate that with gusto, until she was too sick and not tolerating treatment any longer, and we had to make the hard decision every pet owner has had to make to at some point. I truly believe adding raw extended our time with her. At the time, I had 2 other dogs, who also wanted in on this raw food goodness, so I started topping their food with it. It got to a point where they would eat the raw food and spit out the kibble. That is when I decided to switch them completely to raw food. We have a rescue from down south, named Cleo, who would often skip meals and have incredibly loud gurgling belly noises along with intermittent diarrhea. Her vet would put her on metronidazole and/or a probiotic to try to help, but it would still happen pretty frequently. When we switched to raw, she has yet to refuse a meal. She still gets a noisy belly once in a great while, but she also likes to eat worms, dirt, chipmunks, deer poop, insects, bees, an occasional toad, and anything else she finds in the yard. Our third dog, Bitty, is also a rescue. He is a terrier chihuahua mix (and naughty as all get up). I honestly think this dog could eat anything without issues. However, the amount of excitement he has when we are preparing his meals is hysterical (video to come soon!).
